(opinion)
American churches probably spend too much of their resources on themselves... ie 'fixed' expenses like salaries, buildings, and budgets and not enough on outreach to the communities in which they exist but most importantly, the world. (add to that: I spend too much of 'my' resources on myself... my 'fixed' expenses)
